4-HO-MET
Overview
4-HO-MET (Metocin) is a synthetic psychedelic tryptamine structurally related to psilocin, the primary active compound in psychedelic mushrooms. It is commonly described as producing vivid visual effects with a comparatively lighter and more manageable headspace than many other psychedelics.
Like other psychedelics, effects vary considerably depending on dose, setting and the individual.

My Review
Overall Experience
I took 4-HO-MET with a friend, and our trips ended up being quite different. He experienced exactly what people usually describe strong visuals, colourful distortions and a full psychedelic experience. Meanwhile, I barely got any visuals at all. Instead, almost everything happened in my head.
I also used some ketamine around an hour and a half after it hit so it could boost the psychedelic effects (which it did, and I got some little visuals)
The mental effects were incredibly strong. Time completely stopped making sense. Minutes stretched into what felt like hours, while entire hours disappeared in what seemed like moments. My friend and I also developed an absurd god complex during the trip, genuinely feeling like we controlled everyone.
It was fascinating, confusing and honestly a little overwhelming at times.
The comeup was crazy and it hits you immediately, my entire body was shaking and I kept pulling my shirt and I couldn't stop for like 10 minutes until the trip started to set in - NOBODY WARNED ME ABOUT THIS
But the biggest disappointment for me was the lack of visuals. I've noticed I generally need unusually high doses of psychedelics before I start getting strong visual effects, and 4-HO-MET wasn't an exception. Ironically, mushrooms gave me much stronger visuals than this did.
Even so, it was still a fun experience, mostly because of how bizarre the mental effects became.
What I Enjoyed
- Incredible headspace.
- Time distortion.
- Deep conversations.
- Interesting thought patterns.
What I Didn't Enjoy
- Barely any visuals.
- Very confusing.
- Easy to become delusional during the peak.
Would I Use It Again?
Yes
