Overview

N-Ethylpentedrone (NEP) is a synthetic cathinone stimulant commonly associated with increased energy, motivation, confidence, and euphoria. It has a relatively short duration of action compared to many traditional stimulants, particularly when insufflated or smoked, which often leads users to feel tempted to redose.

Many people describe NEP as producing a clean, functional stimulation at lower doses, while higher doses may become increasingly euphoric and compulsive. As the dose increases, the likelihood of side effects such as anxiety, jaw tension, elevated heart rate, insomnia, and compulsive redosing also tends to increase.

The effects vary depending on the route of administration. Oral use generally produces a slower onset with a longer-lasting experience, whereas insufflated and smoked use typically produce a much faster onset, a more intense peak, and a shorter overall duration.
