NEP vs Methamphetamine
Overview
Methamphetamine is a powerful CNS stimulant of the amphetamine class, NEP (N-Ethylpentedrone) is another potent stimulant of the cathinone class. This is a comparison on how they feel and how strong they are compared to each other, based on real experience and pharmacology.

Detailed Comparison
Overall Feel
Although NEP and methamphetamine work differently pharmacologically, the high they produce is very similar.
NEP is primarily a dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, while methamphetamine not only blocks the reuptake of these neurotransmitters but also actively releases dopamine. Many people assume this automatically makes methamphetamine stronger, but that isn't necessarily true. Drugs like MDPV are also primarily reuptake inhibitors yet are widely considered even more potent than methamphetamine.
The truth is, what matters isn't just how a drug works, but how strongly it affects those systems and the dopamine spike it ultimately produces. From my own personal experience, the two are extremely close in overall intensity. Methamphetamine is more euphoric, while NEP is more stimulating.
A simple way I'd describe it is this: meth gives you a hug, while NEP gives you a firm handshake.
Stimulation
The biggest difference between the two is how the stimulation comes on.
NEP comes on almost instantly. When insufflated the rush is felt within about twenty seconds, and when smoked it's practically immediate. The rush is extremely intense but only lasts around ten minutes before transitioning into the main stimulation.
Methamphetamine has a much more stable onset. Snorting it usually takes a few minutes before the effects become noticeable, while smoking produces a steady rise over around a minute. Instead of launching you straight into the stimulation, methamphetamine gradually builds until you're fully high.
Interestingly, once both substances have reached their peak, you can't tell the stimulation apart. If someone somehow skipped the initial come-up, they wouldn't be able to tell which is which.
Euphoria
Methamphetamine is noticeably more euphoric than NEP.
NEP certainly has moments of strong euphoria, especially at higher doses or when smoked, but the baseline experience is much more focused on stimulation than pleasure. Methamphetamine feels warmer, smoother and generally more rewarding throughout the experience.
Functionality
Both substances are highly functional stimulants, but I'd personally give the edge to NEP.
NEP provides extremely clear-headed stimulation, intense focus and excellent productivity while lasting a much shorter time. Methamphetamine is also very functional, but because it lasts so long I find it much harder to fit into normal daily life.
Side Effects
This is where the two substances really begin to separate.
Methamphetamine is incredibly stable. It brings you up, keeps you there for hours and then gradually lets you come back down. The downside is its extremely long duration. For me, the insomnia is brutal and the crashes afterwards are significantly worse than anything I experience with NEP.
NEP feels much more chaotic. It doesn't feel like a smooth curve at all. It feels like the drug grabs you by the neck, throws you into the ceiling, lets you fall halfway back down, then immediately throws you back up again. That unstable, constantly shifting stimulation is what I think makes NEP so prone to anxiety and paranoia.
Cravings
NEP is one of the most compulsive stimulants I've ever used.
In my experience, the cravings are almost on the level of pyrros and even worse than crack cocaine. Redosing feels incredibly tempting, making it very easy for a planned session to turn into an all-day or all-night binge.
Methamphetamine is certainly addictive, but I personally found NEP much harder to stop once I had started.
Safety & Risks
The biggest advantage methamphetamine has is predictability.
NEP is one of the twitchiest and most paranoid stimulants I've ever encountered. Even experienced stimulant users often complain about how quickly it becomes uncomfortable. Personally, if I keep using NEP for around ten hours or more, I begin hallucinating heavily, sometimes to the point where it almost feels psychedelic. I've even seen a friend change personalities live during a binge.
Neither substance is "safe," but I'd consider methamphetamine much more stable mentally. NEP's tendency to produce paranoia, hallucinations and compulsive redosing makes it considerably less forgiving if sessions get out of control.
Which Do I Prefer?
I still personally prefer NEP. It is the most comfortable for me at the moment, and to be honest I kinda like how unpredictable it is and how it makes me chaotically tweak out. Overall, I don't think either substance is objectively "stronger". Their overall intensity is extremely similar, but they excel in different areas. Methamphetamine wins when it comes to euphoria, stability and smoothness, while NEP wins in raw stimulation and functional productivity, at the cost of significantly more paranoia.
