'''3-MeO-PCP''' and '''ketamine''' are both dissociative anesthetics, but despite being in the same drug class they produce very different experiences.

Ketamine is a sedating, immersive dissociative with a relatively short duration, while 3-MeO-PCP is much more stimulating, longer lasting and mentally activating. This comparison is based on my personal experiences with both substances, along with their known pharmacological differences.

== Detailed Comparison ==

The primary action of both 3-MeO-PCP and Ketamine is blocking the NMDA receptors, however 3-MeO-PCP also interacts with the Dopamine receptor which makes it more stimulating.
For that reason, unlike ketamine, 3-MeO-PCP is popular for it's "Mania" since the stimulation encourages you to participate and focus on activities. However 3-MeO-PCP and PCP analogues in general
have a very high risk for psychosis or mania, due to the combination of strong NMDA blockade and intense stimulation, so it is best to approach these substances with caution.

=== Overall Feel ===

In general, based on my experiences, ketamine disconnects you from your body in a way that it feels like you are watching yourself from 10 feet behind you. The world often looks odd or fake and it's very bizzare but intriguing.
With 3-MeO-PCP, you get the dissociation but the stimulation pulls you back in and doesn't impair your motor skills so it feels more like you are in a lucid dream. However 3-MeO-PCP's dissociation can cause very odd effects,
such as thinking you are somewhere you are not. I'd say ketamine is disconnecting, while 3-MeO-PCP is tweaking.

=== Stimulation ===

3-MeO-PCP is quite stimulating, but not as stimulating as other analogues. I'd compare the PCP analogue stimulation to be about as strong as a small line of coke.
Ketamine is not stimulating, it is more sedating.

=== Dissociation ===

If you want pure dissociation or are looking to hole then it is best to avoid the PCP analogues. Before you hole on 3-MeO-PCP you will have gone into a psychotic/manic episode, so avoid trying to hole on these.
For pure dissociation and holing then ketamine is the better option.

=== Visuals ===

Both can produce interesting visuals, but typically 3-MeO-PCP has more visuals and causes more hallucinations in general.
Ketamine typically produces visuals before or during a K-Hole.

=== Headspace ===

Having a bad mindspace before going into either of these substances is not advised because it can and will stress you out and make you paranoid. In terms of headspace, 3-MeO-PCP felt cold and analytical to me while Ketamine's headspace felt primitive and dreamlike. Both substances can intoxicate you though even if you don't realize it in the moment, but I'd say headspace strength is about the same.

=== Functionality ===

Dissociatives aren't really meant to be functional, that's what stimulants are for. But 3-MeO-PCP and the other stimulating analogues are the most functional you can get from dissociatives since they're stimulating. Ketamine isn't functional per say but it isn't non-functional either. I'd say as long as you aren't holing you are fine.

Usually derealization and nausea are the most likely side effects, maybe also inability to feel pain but I don't think that's a side effect, that's what it was made for.

=== Safety & Risks ===

Ketamine can cause severe damage to the bladder with frequent use, and 3-MeO-PCP can cause psychosis and mania with high dose or frequent use.

== Which Do I Prefer? ==

I prefer 3-MeO-PCP. It gives me strong dissociation, gives me a some decent stimulation and lasts long so I don't need to redose too often.
