NEP + Ketamine + Weed

⚠ Warning

This combination caused an acute psychotic episode for me.

While I had previously tolerated NEP and ketamine together, adding cannabis dramatically changed the experience. Cannabis can significantly increase psychological effects in some people, particularly those with a personal vulnerability to psychosis.

This page describes my personal experience and should not be interpreted as what everyone will experience.

My Experience

Overall Experience

I had already taken NEP and ketamine, both at doses I was experienced with and had handled many times before. Then a friend offered me a joint. Even though I knew cannabis messed with me, I decided to smoke anyway and that turned out to be the worst decision of the night. Within 2 minutes I entered an acute psychotic episode. I became convinced I was moving through two different realities simultaneously, one where I am with my friends and another where they're 3D Models that move in slo-mo and stare at me. I tried to tell my friends but everytime I switched realities I didn't know they could hear me so I ended up cutting my sentence off when I switched or mumbling to myself. After 20-30 minutes I took my antipsychotics because I realized something was wrong (I didn't know what though) and about an hour later I had calmed down and realized it was just hallucinations, but the hallucinations did persist for the rest of the night. Looking back, I'm confident the cannabis was the trigger. NEP and ketamine had never produced anything like that for me on their own.

Since then I haven't touched weed again.

What I Enjoyed

  • The NEP and ketamine combination before adding cannabis.

What I Didn't Enjoy

  • Acute psychosis.
  • Complete loss of reality.
  • Extremely frightening experience.
  • Cannabis completely ruined the combination.

Tips & Harm Reduction

Practical Tips

  • If you've previously reacted poorly to cannabis, think carefully before adding it to any combination.
  • Introduce only one new variable at a time rather than combining multiple substances.

Harm Reduction

  • Cannabis may substantially increase psychological intensity, especially in people vulnerable to psychosis.
  • Avoid this combination if you have a history of psychotic episodes.
  • If someone becomes detached from reality or behaves in a way that puts themselves or others at risk, seek immediate assistance from trusted people or emergency services.
